Chapter 13: Web Components

Web components are the everyday heroes of the web. If you have ever created a style guide or worked on a project where elements of your design are used repeatedly, then you can understand the need for web components. Each repeatable portion of your design has the potential to be used as a web component.

Until recently, it was nearly impossible to create a custom functional component that could be used in a repeatable fashion. In this chapter, you learn about what makes up a web component, and more importantly how to create your own that will work right now.

Code samples for this chapter include HTML, CSS, JavaScript, audio, and video files to demonstrate the use of elements and web components. Note that for the example code to work it must be running on a webserver and not double-clicked to open in a browser.
